Description
Connemara’s rugged coastline is home to some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Glassilaun is our closest sandy beach and is less than 15 minutes drive from the lodge.
The Killary Lodge has many walks that can be accessed from its doorstep. The famine Trail, Western Way and Killary Coastal path can all be accessed by foot. We are surrounded by the Maumturk and Twelve Ben mountain ranges for those looking for more strenuous walking.
The Connemara National Park in Letterfrack has looped walks for all levels.
We are surrounded by some of Connemara’s top tourist attractions.
The Killary Sheep Farm is a must for families. The Killary Cruises boat can be seen on the fjord daily and Kylemore Abbey & Gardens has walled gardens that are not to be missed.
There are many food experiences to be tried during your stay. There are a wide selection of cafes and restaurants available in Leenane (8km), Letterfrack (14km), Clifden (28km) or Westport (28km).
Try Killary Fjord Mussels, Ballinakill Oysters, Connemara Smoked Salmon, Connemara Mountain Lamb, Renvyle Honey to name a few.
There is always a cold Guinness to be had in the local beside an open fire.
SITTING ROOM
A stylish lounge opening out onto an extensive outdoor area. The lounge has 3 large couches and lots of comfortable chairs so there is plenty of space for everyone to sit and spend time together. Further seating is available in the adjacent reception room.
KITCHEN & DINING ROOM
The lodge features a beautiful bespoke, fully equipped kitchen
with a large dining area:
2 fridges (1 fridge located in utility room)

Plenty of pots/pans/utensils etc., for cooking
3 ovens & 1 grill, 5 gas hobs
1 dishwasher
Catering sized filter coffee machine
Nespresso coffee machine (Vertuo pods)
The dining area has seating for 36 at bespoke handmade wooden
tables. There is also a large kitchen island with stools allowing for great
chats whilst preparing meals.
BEDROOMS
Most bedrooms are very flexible in their configuration; some can be set up as twin or king rooms, others have bespoke fold down beds suitable
for families with kids and Rooms 3 – 9 all feature bespoke wooden bed pods.
These pods give great privacy and some of them are bunk pods which are always a huge hit with kids and adults alike!
Ground Floor:
Room 1: King bed which can be converted into two single beds.
Room 2: King bed which can be converted into two single beds and a single fold-down bed.
Room 3: Double bed and a single bed (Mezzanine area)
Room 4: King bed which can be converted into two single beds, 1 single beds, and a single fold-down bed (Mezzanine area).
First Floor:
Room 5: Two double beds and 1 single fold-out bed.
Room 6: Two double beds and two single beds.
Room 7: 4 Single beds ( 2 sets of single pods).
Room 8: 4 Single beds ( 2 sets of single pods).
Room 9: 3 Single beds in a pod.
Room 10: 1 King Bed.
FIRST FLOOR READING NOOK
If you need a bit of time out, you can curl up with a good book in one of our funky reading nooks located on the first floor, equipped with hanging
chairs and beanbags. For families with young children a selection of kids toys and books is also located here.
EVENT ROOM
The lodge has a large multi-purpose room that can be customised to your needs.
It is perfect as a space for a family movie night: the lodge does not have a TV but a screen and projector that can be connected to your computer are available. This room can be set up with tables and chairs as a conference or meeting room for corporate groups or as a yoga studio, workshop space or a second dining room.
This room opens out onto the garden outdoor space on both sides.
OUTDOORS
The lodge sits on 185 acres of wild rugged Connemara. It has a large outdoor area complete with outdoor seating and two fire pits, with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and sea – the perfect place to sit and watch the sunset over Killary Fjord, surrounded by nature.
There is a large covered area which houses the BBQ, with outdoor sofas and armchairs where your group can sit and enjoy the surroundings whatever the weather!
There is private access to an area on the Killary Fjord for swimming (on a stoney beach). There are also plenty of beautiful sandy beaches in the local area.
HOUSE RULES
The maximum sleeping capacity is 36 people after the first 20 people there is an additional charge of €30 per each additional person. You must proceed to book the property to add any additional people.
The Lodge can only be rented by guests over the age of 25
Cleaning fee: Every booking at the Killary Lodge incurs a one-off post-stay cleaning fee of €500.
Electric Car charging fee: €30 per charge for electric vehicles. Please advise when booking if any guests are bringing an electric car.
Dog charge: €100 per dog
