Contemporary design and traditional architecture are perfectly entwined within the beautifully restored rooms of this delightful country home which sits amidst a quintessentially Menorcan landscape of shrub-filled meadows, open fields and dry-stone walls, just a 10 minute drive from the sandy coves and turquoise waters of the island’s southern coastline.
As we stepped into the wide entrance hall that spans the property’s southern façade, and looked up at high vaulted ceilings, crisply painted in fresh white to match the walls, we instantly knew that this characterful and beautifully presented rural retreat should be the next addition to our portfolio. Within its thick 17th Century walls and elegant archways, generously proportioned rooms have been furnished with the muted colours and elegant furnishings of current design to produce a stylish fusion of old and new.
The result is a light and restful ambience which will not fail to delight and which is also apparent outside in the attractive grounds. Beyond the traditional façade of whitewashed walls and green shuttered windows, a smooth terrace of modern design leads the way to the swimming pool, via a covered outdoor dining area. Stretching out ahead and forming the most pleasing of backdrops is a rural scene of stone-walled fields dotted with the lush greenery of shrubs and bushes.
This pretty countryside that stretches across the island’s hinterland is a delight to explore and active guests will no doubt enjoy the well-marked cycling trails that criss-cross its scenic meadows. Torralba d’en Salort is perfectly positioned to take advantage of these, being just a few metres from the path that takes cyclists along a 9km trail to the island’s capital of Maó. Also appealing is the proximity of the local restaurants, shops and bars of Alaior which are just 3.2 km in one direction, whilst the idyllic sandy bay of Cales Coves is 6.7km away in the other.
