The azure waters of the Mediterranean shimmer enticingly beyond the neat poolside terraces and light-filled living room of this attractive coastal home, which looks south towards the seemingly endless golden sands of Son Bou, Menorca’s longest stretch of uninterrupted beach.
Backed by dunes and a conserved area of nature reserve, the sweeping sands are enticingly close to hand at Villa Sonya, which benefits from an advantageous location in the pretty neighbourhood of Torre Soli. From its privileged setting, a short stroll west will take you to the edge of the residential area, from where a scenic footpath winds its way through the countryside to the unspoilt sandy beach of Atalis. Accessible only on foot, some 25 minutes’ walk from the house, this is an idyllic tract of rural coastline.
For those seeking a more lively ambience, the family-friendly resort of Son Bou, with its bars, restaurants and shops set just a short distance back from the beach, is only 1km away in the other direction and whilst many will no doubt enjoy the walk, the local bus service is also an option since this offers services not only from Torre Soli to Son Bou but also to the local market town of Alaior and Maó, the island’s historic capital.
You could however be forgiven for simply wishing to stay at home and relax by the pool since the well-presented accommodation and thoughtfully planned outdoor area of Villa Sonya provide the most pleasant of settings in which to do so. Flanked by a deep covered veranda that spans the entire width of the property’s façade and looks onto the pool below, it has been designed to ensure that whether you are relaxing on a sofa in the living room, lounging by the pool or enjoying dinner al fresco the pleasing maritime scene will stretch out ahead of you to form an absorbing outlook. Conveniently close by, the nearest of the neighbourhood’s restaurants is just 400m away, making dining out an appealing option, whilst a stroll of 350m will reveal the local supermarket.
