The renovation of Les Cerisiers has transformed a small, ordinary house into a spacious and welcoming home that combines traditional touches with contemporary elements to great effect. Set within grounds of established trees (including cherry trees after which the house is named) and lawn, the original building has been extended to create an impressive property built from the beautiful honey coloured stone of the region.
Step inside and you are greeted with a large open plan space. Exposed stone walls are interspersed with steel framed windows and doors, enhancing the light and airy feel created by the double height ceiling and crisp white walls. Bright splashes of colour are provided by the artwork found throughout.
Outside, the dining terrace wraps around two sides of the house and offers views over the wide open landscape of fields and neighbouring homes. Cherry and plum trees provide interest, there's plenty of space for children to play, and the fenced pool sits in an elevated position with views over the countryside.
Follow the country road for 1.5km and you arrive in Duravel, a charming village with amenities including a restaurant frequented by the locals. Head in the other direction and you meet the River Lot as it meanders its way through the rural landscape towards the sea. Canoeing and boat trips are available along the river whilst further exploration leads to pretty villages such as Puy-l’Evêque and Prayssac, which still hold weekly markets where stalls are laden with local produce.
Please note that there is a local tourist tax to pay: £2.40 per night for guests aged 18 and over. Parties paying the Small Party Rate (up to 4 people) will have use of two bedrooms. Please advise at the time of booking which bedrooms you would like prepared.
Please note that all visitors to France aged 18 and over are required to pay a Tourist Tax. We collect this tax prior to your holiday and remit it on your behalf. The notes above specify the amount per person per night which will be added to your booking.
