Villa Can Roig
Villa Can Roig is a traditional Catalan farmhouse dating back to the 19th century and consists of 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and capacity for 14 people.
This charming house located in the village of Sant Pere de Ribes includes a free parking space, is less than 1 km from the centre of the village and a few minutes walk from the bus station with services to Barcelona and the neighbouring towns. Sitges and the sandy beaches are less than 10 minutes away by car and the main motorway to Barcelona is only 2 minutes away. And if that wasn't enough, Barcelona airport is a 30-minute drive away. It couldn't be better connected!
It has been recently restored so everything is new but has been exquisitely decorated with period furniture, traditional paintings and Victorian style carpets to retain the original character and beauty of yesteryear.
It has the comfort of all modern amenities, such as a fully equipped kitchen, central heating, heated towel rails or ceiling fans in all rooms, without giving up the rustic charm present in every corner of the house. The original exposed wooden beams have been maintained, as have the vaulted ceilings and white walls.
The outside porch has been carefully updated with the same materials used – a total of 16 large tree trunks have been used to preserve it in the same way it looked a few hundred years ago. It is the perfect place to stay in the shade in summer with your loved ones, while enjoying a barbecue in the front garden and a refreshing dip in the pool with jacuzzi.
On the first level, stoneware tiles have been used for the flooring, while upstairs on the second level it has been updated with wooden parquet. On the ground floor, there is the main kitchen and living room with an extra-large corner sofa and a dining table that seats 12 people. It includes a flat-screen TV and a fireplace. The living room has been separated from the dining room by changing the colour tone of the walls from white to yellow.
This room oozes charm with the beautiful chandelier hanging over the main table, which is itself a family antique. On this same floor there is 1 bedroom with 2 single beds, 1 bathroom with an Italian shower, a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer and what used to be the house's wine cellar. An additional refrigerator has now been included to conveniently keep all drinks within reach. It is the coolest room of all in the house and we have kept the old barrels as tables to hang out with friends and family over a drink. It can also be accessed from outside.
Following the staircase in the entrance to the second floor, you access the rest of the rooms. All are bright and spacious, bathed in sunlight throughout the day. There is a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and 2 other bedrooms sharing a full bathroom, one with 2 single beds and the other with a double bed. This is the only bathroom with a different shade of blue tiles and is the most elegant. This floor has a hidden surprise: a separate apartment!
The perfect layout for families who vacation together but want to keep some privacy to themselves. This apartment includes a large living room with an open-concept kitchen that is fully equipped, except for a dishwasher. There is a sitting area in the same room with a flat-screen TV, a double sofa bed, and a double bed, so the possibilities are endless. It has been tastefully decorated with a framed print of Michel Angelo's cherubs in The First Kiss. Take your time to appreciate the small details of this beautiful Catalan country house as all the decor and furnishings have been carefully selected!
This apartment has a separate bedroom with 2 single beds and a full bathroom. All bathrooms in this cottage have the same fittings: Italian shower with exterior window, large vanity mirror, sink with plenty of storage space and heated towel racks.
However, to truly appreciate this majestic farmhouse, you will have to look at it from the outside. It has a 1,000 square metre plot of land dotted with centuries-old olive trees that were saved from an area affected by deforestation. It is a great place for children to play and adults to hang out. On one side, it overlooks the family vineyard and on the other side, the village of Sant Pere de Ribes and the Montgrós mountain; a magical setting within a peaceful environment. When carrying out the renovation, a strong wind blew the carob tree on the grounds, leaving it mostly uprooted. It survived the harsh weather conditions and we proudly preserve it to remind us to endure the difficult moments in life.
